Soopah Genius is a startup company dedicated to making powerful software to help gamers, streamers, and video editors create meaningful stories from an enormous amount of material generated during live stream sessions.

In recent years, the video game industry has been booming. Gamers are eager to turn their highlight moments from live streams into compelling short videos for their social media content. However, the process of watching, selecting, and downloading clips from 8 to 12 hours live-stream is strenuous and frustrates many gamers to produce these video reels.

Soopah Genius came up with a solution, by creating software called Catapult. This tool divides the whole live-stream into different categories with Artificial intelligence. Thus, Instead of watching the whole stream, the gamers can easily choose the clips and make their gameplay videos or their own video stories.

Catapult is still in the early stages of product development.  We are focusing more on user interviews and research to help aid the same. The goal is to have a comprehensive understanding of our target to improve our product and show prospects how we can help them. We further segment our potential leads into three types of identities.

  • When playing Ranked match, they take the game seriously and have little interaction with their fans

Companion

Fans engagement is more important than the game itself

Pain Points

We have interviewed several live streamers. We found that although they want to create videos to engage with their fans, they still feel overwhelmed when facing a vast amount of materials. They don't know what types of content to create.

Marketing Channels Solution

Awareness stage

Looking at the user journey, In the awareness stage, many prospects want to get into video creation, but they don’t know where to start.

In this stage, we communicated with them through our social media platform. The key message we wanted to deliver was that live streaming is also a great source material to take advantage of, and your gameplay video can also be fun!

Our video content strategy was to create eye-catching videos that people could easily resonate with. We started our Tiktok account first because Tiktok provides a diverse, quirky space letting people create and consume content in a more relaxed, organic way.

First, I searched the latest video games online and famous gamers’ live streams and extracted highlight moments that could bring out their true personality. The most difficult part is finding the trendy music on TikTok and weaving creativity into the videos. You can check out more videos I have made on Tiktok here

We want to build up their confidence about editing by showcasing the videos we made on Tiktok. These videos provided them with a clear sense of direction on how to utilize their live stream materials and create compelling, meaningful video content.

Interest stage

In the Interest stage, we wanted to generate interest in our product, but one of the pain points was that they doubted the feasibility of the product, wondering if AI can fully support them in editing their videos.

To convince the customers, I started by analyzing each game structure. Each story follows a pattern with a beginning, middle, and end. I divided gameplay video into three sections, which include

  • The gamer's intention of the game

  • The frustration and excitement in the stream

  • The outcome of the game.

and found the constant properties in the game, and worked with the developers to train the machine model.

Moreover, we interviewed potential customers, understanding their needs and their interactive behavior with fans in live streams. To make a stronger connection with the streamers, I made demo videos showing them how the product works and what their video would be like with the help of Catapult.

Consideration stage

In the consideration stage, we keep conducting user testing and interviewing prospects. We were able to successfully grab our prospects' attention but what prevented them from signing up for the service was a notion that our product didn't have enough features to support them in telling a better story.

Apart from implementing new features, I further discussed with the UX designer and developer about adjusting the interface and structure of the product to streamline the user experience and provide a service that can fully support streamers to make the story flow more consistently.
